Welcome to 'a very little of apple tart'.
I'm Teti Ko., passionate home-baker with a love for innovation and this is where I share my culinary adventures. Whether adapted or made from scratch, the desserts you'll find here are inspired by history. The recipes are based on my academic readings, online historical sources, a decent library of cookbooks, favorite works of classic literature, and my imagination. A smaller part of this blog than I would like is dedicated to wholesome food. This is my 'frugal kitchen', desserts you can make with very little expense. The majority of recipes, however, uses exotic ingredients -sugar, molasses, rum, cocoa, and spices- that were historically available to just a few people. This is because historic cookbooks were generally written for upper and middle class people. Since cultivation, process, and distribution of luxury foods is known to also have (had) a negative impact on both the environment and several people's health and/or welfare, I have made an effort to simplify gourmet recipes although the original version is always there for comparison.
